Purpose: The Communications and Grant Program Coordinator is responsible for directing and administering all aspects of Beckley Area Foundation’s marketing and communication programs as well as management of the Foundation’s grant making programs. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Communications

Professional Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree or greater in Marketing, Communication or other related discipline is preferred.
- Excellent written/verbal communications skills; ability to develop and tell compelling stories
- Strong organizational and project management skills; attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, web content management, social media platforms & desktop publishing
- Online grant management experience
- Ability to convey the vision of Beckley Area Foundation’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
- Knowledge of donor relations
- Solid, hands-on, budget management skills that include budget analysis, decision-making and reporting
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, and task facilitation
- Program development skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize time sensitive projects
- Ability to collaborate with and motivate board members, staff and other volunteers
- Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Specific Responsibilities:
Communications
- Execute the Foundation’s communications and marketing strategy
- Collaborate with staff to identify, develop and communicate compelling stories that reflect the Foundation’s work
- Produce annual report, electronic and print newsletters and other marketing pieces
- Build strong media relationships and engage media in the Foundation’s work
- Strengthen the Foundation’s brand through consistent application across mediums
- Maintain website and manage website content
- Manage the Foundation’s social media presence and reach
- Maintain media contact list
- Develop creative impact stories about the Foundation’s grantees, donors and community
- Maintain photo and video image files to facilitate print and digital media requests
- Assist with the preparation for community events
- Additional duties as assigned
- Coordinate program for competitive grant making and for select field of interest and donor advised funds
- Develop and update grant guidelines, application forms and grants management policies
- Research and review grant proposals received
- Consult with prospective grantees and assist them in their interactions with the Foundation in order to maximize their understanding of the Foundation’s grant making programs and the grant making process
- Oversee development of the Foundation’s online Grant Application and other related materials; maintain and update grant application materials
- Communicate with grant management software technical support
- Coordinate meetings with volunteers and non-profit organizations as applicable to specific grant making programs
