Eligibility:

High school graduate from Appalachian coal fields enrolling in an engineering program at a technical college or university such as Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, MIT, Cal Tech, Colorado School of Mines, or the engineering schools of Virginia Tech and Texas A&M;
Applicants planning to attend engineering schools not listed must contact the BAF office (304-253-3806) to determine if it is a donor approved program;
The recipients are to be selected based on their academic potential.

An anonymous donor made generous donations throughout his lifetime to this endowment which provides scholarship aid for high school graduates from the Appalachian coal fields who are enrolling in a technical college or university
such as Carnegie Tech, Georgia Tech, MIT, Cal Tech, Colorado School of Mines, the engineering schools of Virginia Tech
and Texas A&M or similar institutions.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
