The Beckley Area Foundation provides oversight for scholarship funds established by individuals, firms and organizations wishing to assist students in furthering their education.  Many of the scholarships managed by BAF are designated for use by students pursuing a particular field of study or attending a specific school.  Additionally, there are scholarships that can be used at any college for graduates of Woodrow Wilson High School, Liberty High School, Independence High School, Shady Spring High School, Oak Hill High School, Midland Trail High School, Summers County High School, Westside High School and Wyoming East High School.  Most of these scholarships must be awarded to students from our geographic area or at least preference given to such students.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
