Eligibility

Wyoming County, WV public high school graduate(s) attending University of Charleston-Beckley;
Available to need based qualified college freshmen or upperclassmen.

Apply: NO APPLICATION REQUIRED. Every new UC Beckley student will be reviewed for consideration for this BAF scholarship, according to the specific criteria and level of financial need.

Joseph C. Phillips, former member of the BAF Board of Directors, established this fund in memory of his mother, Bethel Phillips. Income earned from this endowment is used to assist Wyoming County students. Formerly designated for use at MSU, it is now redirected to University of Charleston-Beckley.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
