Eligibility:
- Originally for Mt. Hope High will now accept applications from Oak Hill High School students;
- Pursuing post-high school education including technical, trade or baccalaureate; preference will be given to female applicants pursuing a business or a career/vocation considered to be non-traditional for women;
- Demonstrated financial need and GPA of 2.5 or better;
- Essay required: In 300 to 1,000 words, describe how your background makes you a special candidate for this scholarship.
Prior to her death in 2009, Connie expressed an interest in starting a scholarship that would benefit a female Mount Hope HS graduate. She was born in Beckley and graduated from MHHS. She and her husband, Dennis King, lived, worked and raised their two daughters in Covington, VA. She owned and operated Chapman Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, and was honored on several occasions for her community service.
