Eligibility
  • Raleigh County students attending University of Charleston-Beckley;
  • Pursuing a health science/medical related field;
  • Award one or more.
Renewable:  Yes
Apply:   No application submission is required.  Every new UC Beckley student will be reviewed for consideration for available BAF scholarships according to each scholarship’s specific criteria and student level of financial need.
Dr. Ashton practiced for many years in Beckley and was chief of medicine at Beckley Hospital. The donor, Doctors Memorial Foundation of Beckley Hospital, directed that proceeds go to aid worthy students who are pursuing a course of study in the health sciences at MSU. It now benefits this same field of study at University of Charleston-Beckley.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
