  • Shady Spring High School graduate;
  • Attending any accredited WV college or university;
  • High school seniors and college upperclassmen are eligible;
  • Selection of recipient based on academic potential and financial need.

A permanent memorial to the life of Irene Young, this endowment has provided financial assistance to a student from Raleigh County attending MSU. As of 2014, awards go to SSHS graduates pursuing post HS education at any accredited institution. Mrs. Young was active in the First Christian Church, our local Shepherd’s Center, Pinecrest Hospital volunteers, and the Veteran’s Hospital volunteers.
