This endowment honors Beckley’s late mayor who served from 1970 to 1983. It was started with gifts from his widow, friends, employees of the City of Beckley and the Bank of Raleigh, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Income from this fund provides college scholarships for children of city employees.

Eligibility

• Children of municipal employees of the City of Beckley
• Enrolled in a course leading to a four year degree. 

Renewable:  Yes; recipient must re-apply annually and have a college GPA of at least 2.0 to be considered
