In 2009, the Oak Hill High School – Collins High School Alumni Association began the transfer of their assets to BAF for management purposes. The association, first organized in 1985 by alumni who graduated between 1939 and 1942, works to encourage local high school graduates in their pursuit of college by offering scholarships. While BAF handles the administrative tasks, the alumni group will continue to raise funds, recommend scholarship recipients, and manage funds not moved to the Foundation.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
