Eligibility
  • College qualified graduates of a high school in Raleigh County, WV;
  • Need based;
  • Recipient must be pursuing a degree as a physician’s assistant at any West Virginia accredited college or university;
  • Both merit and need will be considered.

This is the second permanent endowment established at BAF by Wanda Davis Martin. Working with her financial advisor Ray Morton at Ameriprise Financial, Mrs. Martin moved significant assets to the Foundation for a need/merit based scholarship fund which will assist college qualified graduates of a high school in Raleigh County, WV, pursuing a degree as a physician’s assistant at any accredited college or university in West Virginia. The scholarship is renewable.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
