Eligibility
  • Merit and need based;
  • Awarded to a woman attending New River Community and Technical College;
  • Must reside in Raleigh County;
  • ​Pursuing high education to prepare themselves for employment or advancement in their current employment.

The Woman’s Club of Beckley utilized BAF’s “Building over Time” option to create a scholarship fund that will help women who seek skills that will enhance employment opportunities and their ability to care for themselves and their families. The fund was initiated with a $5,000 challenge grant from Randall and Joyce Broyles in honor of their daughter Shari Jones and her family. Shari is a former teacher and past president of the Woman’s Club of Beckley. Recipients of this scholarship must be women residing in Raleigh County and enrolled at New River Community and Technical College so as to prepare themselves for employment or advancement in their current employment.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
