In 1993, Frances S. and Charles A. Beasley created an endowed scholarship fund at the College of West Virginia (later MSU) in memory of T. Arlene Beasley. A native of Fayette and Raleigh Counties, Arlene was always proud of the education she received at Beckley College, training that enabled her immediate employment with the Raleigh Smokeless Coal Company and later administrative positions with the VA Hospital and the U.S. Social Security Agency in Beckley and Birmingham, Alabama. Arlene was an excellent student at Oak Hill High School and in college; she was anxious to aid others in their scholarly pursuits. Upon the closure of MSU, the funds were moved to BAF, and will provide scholarships for junior and senior students from Fayette and Raleigh counties at the Beckley campus of the University of Charleston.
