The first line of the obituary read, “Todd Aaron Smith, 18, of Beckley died on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, in a car accident in Morgantown.” Family and friends have had to face this tragic, unexpected loss. Todd was an honor graduate of WWHS, and he planned to major in accounting, and become a CPA. His mother, Jamye Elkins, and his grandmother, Corenna Ambrose, used the BAF “Building over Time” option to create a lasting memorial to this young man who was loved by so many people. This permanent endowment will generate income for a need and merit based scholarship to be awarded to a WWHS graduate.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
