Troy Grant Mitchem III Memorial Scholarship Fund
Troy died in 2009 from a rare immune system disorder, X-linked Lymphoproliferative Syndrome. He missed his prom, his Liberty High School graduation ceremony and his plans to go to college. This teenager loved NASCAR, football, video games, his extended family and hosts of friends. He played football at Liberty and was named “Mr. Raider” in 2008. While he did not have the most athleticism among his teammates, he embodied team spirit and was prone to energizing the student cheering section from the sidelines. Numerous fund-raising events and donations from family and friends have established this permanent endowment that will generate income for a yearly need-based scholarship for a graduate of Liberty High School who has been active in one or more extra-curricular activities.
