​Wilkes Family Scholarship Fund 

Eligibility
  • Students attending Concord University;
  •  Scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, room and board;
  • Preference given to a West Virginia resident and graduate of a Raleigh Co. high school;
  • Requires written recommendations from two teachers who can attest to the candidate’s character and academic potential.

Spirit of Beckley Award recipients, Betty J. Wilkes and Joan E. Wilkes established this fund to provide scholarships for students attending Concord University. Joan, a respected educator and community supporter, died in March, 2007.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
