William N. and Mary Ann Turner Fund

James W. Word III and his wife Lisa started this fund in honor of the parents of close friend William L. “Bill” Turner. Both families have a significant history of active community participation. Bill’s father was critically ill, and the Words felt it would be appropriate to recognize the couple. Mr. Turner died shortly thereafter and the fund received numerous additional memorial gifts from friends and family. William Nave Turner and Mary Ann were married for nearly 65 years. He had a long successful career in the mining industry. Their children and grandchildren have each been involved with BAF in some capacity.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
