Athas and Helen Soter (Athanasios and Eleni Karakasis Soteracopoulos) Memorial Fund

A bequest from sisters, Freda and Sula Soter created this endowment to honor their parents, ethnic Greeks who were born and reared in Katirli, Turkey, before immigrating to the United States. Sula was a supervisor in the business office of the telephone company. Freda was a claims representative for the Social Security Office. Half of the income from this fund will go to YMCA of Southern West Virginia for programs directed to indigent children, a quarter for the Raleigh County Public Library and a quarter for Beckley Concert Association.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
