Beckley Babe Ruth League Fund Honoring Sarge Maynard

A collaborative effort of a number of local baseball enthusiasts resulted in the formation of this permanent endowment honoring Claude “Sarge” Maynard, longtime supporter of the Babe Ruth program. Unused funds raised years ago by the Beckley Tri-County Pro Baseball Association to bring pro baseball to Beckley had been turned over to the WV Unclaimed Property office. Jack Roop and Bill Wooton contacted Norman Bias, the last president of the association, and arranged to have the money released to create a fund for the benefit of the local Babe Ruth League.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
