Books for Babies Fund

Utilizing the “Building over Time” option, Margaret Ann Bays, former President of the Raleigh County Reading Council, along with Kathy Bailey, patient educator at Raleigh General Hospital, and interested local citizen Cynthia Bickey, worked to create a permanent endowment that will generate income to purchase age appropriate books for mothers of newborns at RGH. Their efforts were further supported by Margaret Ann’s family and educators at Lester, Sophia, Stanaford, and Stratton Elementary Schools. This initiative is intended to encourage parents to read to their children.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
