File Family Fund

​Local attorney William H. File Jr. established this fund in memory of his wife Marjorie Wriston File, his parents Addie Lanier File and William Henry File, and his wife’s parents Dr. Robert and Minnie Davis Wriston. Marjorie, known by her friends and family as “Tag,” died in Oct., 2006, following a long illness. Mr. File directed that this fund be donor advised, allowing his four children to annually suggest charitable recipients of the generated income. Susan File Payne, William Henry File III, Robert Norman File, and John Lanier File serve as donor advisors. Mr. File Jr. died in March, 2009.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
