There is a long-standing record of Harriet and Wilmot Jones supporting music in Raleigh County. Harriet's concern over a lack of trained organist led to the creation of this fund. It will be used to assist West Virginia students, with a preference given to those from Raleigh County, in furthering their music education and acquisition of skills required to adeptly perform organ music.
Wilmot and Harriet were married for 57 years and had two sons. Harriet graduated from Randolph-Macon Women's college with a minor in music. Wilmot was a music loving mining engineer and a graduate of Lehigh University. He served the in the Air Force. Louisa Holton Morris was Harriet's sister. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a career teacher. She died in 2015 at the age of 106.
