M. A. “Ping” Johnson, Sr. and M. A. “Alex” Johnson, Jr. Memorial Fund

This unrestricted fund, started by Margaret Johnson, Glenna Johnson, and Gil and Susan Johnson High, honors a father and son who made numerous contributions to our community. “Ping” married Margaret Ella Bibb of Beckley; they were parents of two children, Susan and Alex. Ping died in 1997. His son, Alex, died in 1999. Alex graduated from WWHS and WVU. He and his wife, Glenna Hamilton Johnson, lived in Beckley.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
