Nancy Rickards Crippled Children’s Fund
BAF was the beneficiary of an annuity and other testamentary gifts from the estate of Nancy J. Rickards who died in Feb., 2012. Nancy was born with multiple birth defects and cerebral palsy. After many hospitalizations and surgeries, she completed high school in Delaware and earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from West Virginia Wesleyan. She was employed by the Department of Social Services in Georgetown, Delaware, and then became a social worker in Orthopedics and General Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Nancy retired and purchased a home in Pineville, WV. Following an automobile accident, she moved to the Summit at Hidden Valley in Oak Hill. Her experiences led to her interest in establishing a fund that will generate income to help orthopedically challenged children and young adults in southern West Virginia. Recipients must have specific mobility problems.
