Ora Snuffer and Roy Oberholtzer Memorial Scholarship Fund

Eligibility

Male nursing student from Raleigh, Fayette, Mercer, Summers or Wyoming Counties;
Must be enrolled full-time in the nursing program;
Both need and merit shall be equally considered in making the selection.

Apply: No application submission is required. Every new Bluefield State University nursing student will be reviewed for consideration of this scholarship, according to the specific criteria and level of financial need.

Ora Snuffer Oberholtzer was born in WV and raised in Crab Orchard. She and her husband Roy lived most of their married lives in Akron, Ohio. Ora returned to WV after Roy died. She died in Oct. 2007. This scholarship fund was established as a memorial to them. The recipient must be a male student from Raleigh, Fayette, Mercer, Summers or Wyoming Counties enrolled in a nursing program. Originally for MSU, it currently benefits a Bluefield State University student.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
