Robert Manning Memorial Scholarship Fund

Eligibility:

The scholarship will be weighted for educational merit as evidenced by the Foundation’s application process. To be eligible student must have between a 2.0 and 3.0 grade point average;
Independence High School, located in Coal City, WV, matriculating seniors.

Robert Manning's close friend, April Harrison, established this scholarship to remember him and to benefit Independence High School graduating seniors. Many will remember Robert as the owner of Manning's Homecooked BBQ. This kept him busy on the festival circuit and at the City of Beckley’s Fridays in the Park. “Robert was truly one of a kind. If you knew him, you liked him. He had an open heart, a golden personality, and once he considered you a friend, he had a fierce loyalty that could not be matched,” said Ms. Harrison.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
