Sarah Jane Word Fund
This unrestricted fund honors Sarah Jane “Sallie” Powers Word, wife of BAF’s fi rst board president (1985-86) and mother of the Foundation’s past president Jay. Sallie, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always supported the work of her family, especially in building BAF. She was a talented artist, supporter of the Beckley Art Group, and active member of the Phymosia Garden Club. Sallie passed away in January 2015 and several memorial gifts were added to the fund in her honor.
