The Ernest and Clara Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund
Eligibility
Apply: No application submission is required. Every Bluefield State College nursing student will be reviewed for consideration of available BAF scholarships designated to that institution, according to each scholarship’s specific criteria and student level of financial need.
- Full-time WV student enrolled in the Bluefield State University nursing program;
- Preference is given to a first generation college student;
- Graduating high school seniors and college upperclassmen may apply;
- One scholarship annually.

This endowment was established with a testamentary gift from the estate of Clara Bailey. The fund has generated money for a scholarship to a WV student enrolled in the MSU nursing program. Currently, it is benefiting a Bluefield State University nursing student. The Baileys moved to Beckley in 1988; Ernest died in 1989 and Clara died in 2002.
