The Frances Wise Lemke and Evalyn Bobo McNeill Memorial Fund
Tom and Sally Lemke chose to honor their mothers when they established this discretionary fund which will generate income for the Foundation’s Annual Community Grant Program. Despite financial hardships and limited financial resources, both of their mothers valued and supported education and community service. While Sally was a Marshall student earning a degree in chemistry, she met Tom who was then working on a Masters degree in the same field. They married and Tom went on to earn a PhD at Lehigh University while Sally worked as a research chemist. After active professional careers largely spent in the Huntington area, they retired to Raleigh County and have become involved in a number of community organizations. Tom’s service on the BAF Distributions Committee made him acutely aware of the value of the Foundation’s pool of unrestricted funds. The Lemke’s were able to take advantage of a Massey Foundation challenge grant opportunity.
