Virginia Cook – Mullens Area Beautification Fund

The donor, Virginia W. Cook, is the widow of Woodrow Cook, an active Mullens businessman, former Mayor and member of the Wyoming County Commission. Virginia established this field-of-interest fund to generate income that will be used to beautify the Mullens area with a focus on parks, gardens and planters as well as the prevention and cleanup of litter. Specific recipients shall be recommended by an advisory board. Mrs. Cook has lived in the Mullens area all of her life. She graduated from WVU in 1939 and taught Home Economics at Mullens High School for 33 years.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
