This fund was established by William N. Jones as a memorial to his parents Carl Odell and Anna Lorine Meadows Jones, as well as his brother Carl Lacy Jones. The donor believes that everyone should find a way to give back to their community. This philosophy led him to establish an unrestricted BAF endowment which will enhance the foundation's ability to respond to the dozens of worthwhile requests submitted during the annual community grant program. Most of William’s working life included heavy construction and highway construction, many of the projects taking him out of state. He retired in Grandview and has generously given back to the community he calls home. Mr. Jones died in a motorcycle accident in 2012.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
