A grant from the Beckley Area Foundation is a partnership. Your story is our story. Since the first designated fund was established in 1986, the BAF has been telling stories of donors and helping area organizations to create new stories. 
A designated fund is a charitable fund established by a donor to benefit a specific charity or program for a charity. One organization in our area, Helping Hands Resource Center, receives distributions from three designated funds. To date, over $4.3 million dollars has been distributed from designated funds.
“Designated fund distributions from BAF provides Helping Hands with money to purchase food for the needy and hungry residents of Raleigh County,” said Howard Mollohan, treasurer of Helping Hands. “This is especially important during this time of the year when other contributions tend to be lower. We appreciate the distributions to help meet our needs. During the last fiscal year, we provided food for 16,859 people. BAF funds allowed us to purchase a large portion of that food.”
The Beckley Area Foundation’s Board of Directors has approved distribution of 118 grants totaling $317,236 to 56 organizations in our area from designated funds for 2018. The 2018 grant awards are as follows:
