The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary established the “Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship Fund” to support students from Boone, Fayette, Greenbrier, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Nicholas, Raleigh, Summers, or Wyoming counties in West Virginia. Students must have a parent, stepparent, sibling, or grandparent who has been or is currently employed in a coal related industry. “The last two years have had life consequently different than we have ever experienced in our lifetime. During this same period, coal has taken a big hit from political venues and environmentalists. More than ever, coal needs to be presented as the beneficial resource it is in helping keep America independent. The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary has always presented coal people as hard working, caring individuals who give where and when needed. These ladies have supported veterans, youth, the underprivileged, the hungry, essential workers, educators, and many others. Coal has been an important part of West Virginia history. Coal people, their hard work and dedication to all should never be forgotten. By establishing a fund with the Beckley Area Foundation, Coal people and their generosity will never be forgotten. History will be maintained. We are proud to continue our legacy by joining the Beckley Area Foundation.” Judy Bays | Director of Public Relations, Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary Anyone interested in donating to this fund may mail contributions with “FOCLA” in the memo to BAF, 129 Main St. Suite 301, Beckley, WV 25801 or click the button below to donate online.
