WV Spirit of Philanthropy Grant Announced

The legacy of Susan S. Landis was honored by Philanthropy West Virginia with the inaugural Susan S. Landis — WV Spirit of Philanthropy grant awards.

Landis was our former executive director at the Beckley Area Foundation and served for over 20 years. She was an advocate for West Virginia artisans, nonprofits, community foundations and communities.

The WV Spirit of Philanthropy awards are the state’s highest honor in recognizing philanthropic impact and each award honoree selects a nonprofit to receive the mini-grant.

Philanthropy WV will open nominations for the 14th annual WV Spirit of Philanthropy Awards program in April 2020, which honors individual citizens, foundations and corporations for philanthropic impact.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible. If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
