Charles R. and Shirley M. Weaver Community Service Scholarship Fund

Eligibility
  • Residents of Wyoming County, WV graduating from Wyoming East High School;
  • Must attend a West Virginia in-state institution;
  • Community service based award. Must have a minimum of 50 hours in student's four year high school career;
  • 500 word essay with a community service focus.

Eligibility
  • Residents of Webster County, WV;
  • Recent graduates and adult career-switchers seeking a professional trade or retraining assistance;
  • Must attend a trade school including vocational programs offering certification or degree programs designed to teach specific employment skills;

Eligibility
  • Students attending Concord University  Scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, room and board;
  • Preference given to a West Virginia resident and graduate of a Raleigh Co. high school;
  • Requires written recommendations from two teachers who can attest to the candidate’s character and academic potential.

Eligibility
  • Raleigh County, WV residents graduating seniors from Shady Spring High School;
  • Must be pursing an education degree at Concord University;
  • Weighted for financial need;

​Wiseman Family Endowed ​Scholarship 

Eligibility
  • Available to high school graduates residing in Raleigh County, West Virginia, who will be attending the University of Charleston-Beckley;
  • Preference shall be given to students pursuing a nursing or physician assistant degree; should these degrees not be offered, preference shall be given to a student pursuing a degree in some allied health field;
  • Preference will be given to students who meet these criteria and who are eligible for little or no federal or state education grants, but who demonstrate financial need as determined by the UC-Beckley Office of Financial Aid.

​Woodrow Wilson Class of 1952 ​Memorial Scholarship and Jo Lee Daniels Scholarship

Eligibility
  • For one or more annual scholarships to a WWHS graduate or graduates who are considered college qualified but would be unable to attend college without financial assistance;
  • The Jo Lee Daniels Scholarship is to be awarded to an individual demonstrating the qualities of a “Jo Lee like personality” exemplified in a poetic reflection about her.  This includes such characteristics as intelligence, unquestionable integrity, a leader of other students, remarkable wit and sense of humor, hospitable nature, sympathy for others, patience with trying people and situations, a strong work ethic, warm heartedness, and FRIENDLY.  The recipient may be male or female.

Eligibility
  • Provides need and merit based scholarships for graduates of WWHS or for former WWHS students who have acquired their GED (General Education Diploma);
  • Recipients are not limited to enrollment at a particular school located in a particular state; trade schools, vocation schools, community colleges, junior colleges, four year colleges and universities are all acceptable.

Delaney Lee Wykle​ ​Scholarship 

Eligibility
  • Award is equally weighted for financial need and educational merit;
  • Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA;
  • Recipients must be residents and high school graduates of the WV counties of Raleigh and Summers;
  • Award is to be for post-secondary nursing education at an accredited four year nursing program;
  • Recipients must be a college sophomore or upperclassman and provide evidence of acceptance into the institution’s approved nursing program;
  • The recipients are not limited to attendance at a particular institution; but, the public school must be within the state of West Virginia;
  • Recipients must be pursuing a bachelor of science degree in the field of nursing.

​Wyoming County Community Fund Scholarship 

Eligibility
  • Must be a Wyoming County resident;
  • Enrolling at Wyoming County Career & Technical Center or Southern WV Community & Technical College Wyoming/McDowell County Campus;
  • Students attending a Wyoming County High School or a Wyoming Co. student currently enrolled at the Wyoming County Career & Technical Center or the Wyoming/McDowell County Campus of Southern WV Community & Technical College;
  • Adults returning to school after spending time in the workforce;
  • Adults with a GED;
  • Possess a 2.5 or greater GPA;
  • Work experience or exceptional community service;
  • Must not be on probation of any kind.​

​Wyoming County Medical Field Scholarship 

Eligibility
  • Need and merit based;
  • Graduates from Wyoming County East, Westside, or Wyoming County Career & Technical Center located in Wyoming County, West Virginia
  • Must be pursuing a program of study in medical field at University of Charleston-Beckley.  Should UC-Beckley cease to offer majors in medical fields or have a physical presence in southern WV, the scholarship can be award to student pursuing medical field major at any accredited school in WV.
Renewable:   Yes.
Apply: No application submission is required for this award.   UC-Beckley will review eligible applicants and recommend.

Confirmed in Compliance with National Standards Beckley Area Foundation is a member of the National Council on Foundations, Philanthropy WV, Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, Charitable Gift Planners of WV and WV Nonprofit Association. The Foundation will make available for public inspection the last three years of its tax documents, including Internal Revenue Service Forms 990 and 990-T (if applicable), any audit, and its tax exempt letter. If the request for any of these documents is made in person, the requested documents will be provided on the day of the request if possible.  If the request is in writing (including email), copies will be provided within 30 days of the request. The requestor may be charged a reasonable fee for the cost of copying, plus storage. Questions concerning documents should be addressed to either the Executive Director or Board Chair of the Foundation.
